Wild Sh*t Wrestling Did You’ve TOTALLY Forgotten About

2. AEW Somehow Makes An “Explosion” Worse

OK, so everyone remembers the iconically bad conclusion to an “Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch” between Kenny Omega and Don Moxley at AEW’s Revolution 2021 pay-per-view. What you’ve probs forgotten is how All Elite explained away the sparklers on the following edition of Dynamite. Yeah, about that.

Eddie Kingston, who had feigned unconsciousness as the PPV went off the air, claimed he’d blacked out due to anxiety and flashbacks. Later, Omega poked fun at Eddie laying over a prone Moxley by asking Don Callis to do the same. Then, Kenny blurted out: “69 me, Don!” as a small gathering of AEW extras popped.

This was WCW-level rubbish.

Granted, AEW couldn’t ignore the botch, but following it up with this tripe somehow made things worse. They had one of the participants in the match ridicule it (thus rendering all the bumps, bruises, cuts and pain Omega had endured meaningless), and tossed poor Eddie Kingston to the wolves by having him try to use mental health as a side story for their own production mishaps.
