When Hamada signed for TNA in 2009, Awesome Kong called her an "international phenomenon" and compared her to AJ Styles. That was spot on.
International, she is. The daughter of Gran Hamada, one of the first Japanese grapplers to make it in lucha libre, she was born in Mexico herself, and took that dual heritage accross her two "home" countries, as well as North America. She's won the TNA Knockouts Tag Team titles with Awesome Kong and Taylor Wilde, wrestled Asuka, Mercedes Martinez, Sara del Rey or Madison Eagles in SHIMMER, crossed paths with Taya or Tessa Blanchard at Triplemanías, had feuds with the likes of Lioness Asuka, Aja Kong, Dynamite Kansai, Hikaru Shida, Nanae Takahashi or Chihiro Hashimoto in Japan, and the likes of Faby Apache, Miss Janeth or La Diabólica in Mexico.
Like AJ Styles, she is not only well-traveled, but well-learned. Fluent in Japanese, Spanish and English, she's also fluent in puroresu, lucha libre and good ol' wrasslin'. A joshi of all trades and a master of some, Ayako is still only 42, and could very well add to her world titles tally in the years to come.
