In 2018-2019, Becky Lynch left an indelible mark on the history of pro wrestling when she broke out as "The Man". Yet, the more time passes, the more it feels like lightning a bottle neither her nor WWE know how to recapture.
Granted, Stephanie McMahon is right: Becky is already "one of the biggest superstars in WWE history". She will always be the winner of the first WrestleMania women's main event, the first woman to top WWE's merch sales, the first one to reach that level of stardom and crossover appeal.
But just look at her two main feuds this year: Trish Stratus and Tiffany Stratton. Those storylines weren't bad per se, but is this the best WWE can do for its alleged top female superstar? Fighting hall of famers and elevating NXT newcomers ? Don't they have Natalya to do that?
If you want Becky Lynch to feel like the main character of the women's division, at least give her something resembling a main quest.
Heading into WrestleMania XL, she's in a creative stalemate and struggling for relevancy. But hey, she turned things around once, and from much more dire straits. Surely she can do it again.
