Women's Wrestlers With The Most World Titles (Across All Major Promotions)
2. Mickie James (11)
5 TNA Knockouts World Championships
5 WWE Women's Championships
1 Divas Championship
Following the departures of Trish Stratus and Lita in 2006, WWE struggled to establish long-term, organic babyfaces for the women's division. During the following half-decade or so, the top divas did their best work as heels (Beth Phoenix, Michelle McCool, Maryse). Mickie James was the only exception, which probably explains the amount of gold she won in such a short time (six championships in five years). Yet, no amount of world titles could excuse Mickie's infamous final storyline - one that does not merit to be named - nor the manner in which she was then let go.
She jumped ships to a federation that would book her in a way that was worthy of her skills (more Last Woman Standing matches & credible feuds, less Bra and Panties matches & random six women tags). Gail Kim followed her a year later, and if the Knockouts scene was so superior to the Divas division in the first part of the 2010s, both these women played no small part.
Whether her future lies with WWE (she did call out Rhea Ripley) or a rebranded TNA, she is certain to be inducted in the HOF of both federations someday, and it's hard to think of another woman who'd deserve it more.
