6. The Best Man For The Job

Coming off what must surely be the most miserable two-week period of his life, Jim Ross made his first WWE appearance since September 2013 last night. News of his imminent return broke over the weekend, and while his WrestleMania 33 appearance was kept relatively low-key and subdued, JR’s presence added much more than mere nostalgia to the show.

JR called the Roman Reigns vs. Undertaker main event like only he can. Lively, engaged, and as professional as ever, his presence helped added an extra layer of importance to what will likely be the Deadman’s last WWE match. No commentator frames a big moment like Jim Ross, and while nobody expects him to return to a full-time weekly schedule, using him in spots like this would be a smart move on WWE’s behalf.

Though JR’s return was agreed prior to his wife Jan’s tragic passing, his appearance made for one of WrestleMania 33’s most heartening moments. It was a small glimmer of light during an impossibly dark period, and finally, the most important play-by-play announcer in WWE history is back where he belongs. Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ve heard of JR at WrestleMania.
