Randy Orton's long and arduous plot to destroy the Wyatt Family appears to have actually worked. With patience and commitment, the 'Apex Predator' spent long enough in situ as Bray Wyatt's follower to earn his trust and destroy his empire from within.

However, the last part of his grand plan won't work out as he thought.

By winning the Royal Rumble, Orton guaranteed himself a title shot, and in that funny way that pro wrestling works, it would come against Wyatt following an Elimination Chamber victory for 'The Eater of Worlds' in February.

However, since engulfing the Wyatt compound in flames at the culmination of his scheme, Randy has ended up in a game of can-you-top-this with Bray, and dished out his final warning via another muddled vignette from the charred remains to close Smackdown Live!

Seeming to have the same magic powers Wyatt had, Orton must have imbibed more from his time with the Family than he thought, but it won't be enough to complete the final item on his agenda.

WWE Title loss on the 'Grandest Stage' does leave 'The Viper' in a difficult spot in the aftermath, but a switch to Raw away from Wyatt silliness later in the year may aid a reascension.
