12. Braun Strowman Dumps Big Show To Claim Trophy

When the Andre the Giant battle royal was inaugurated at WrestleMania XXX, it was presented with a degree of prestige utterly worthy of the legendary French behemoth. After crowd-pleaser Cesaro claimed the trophy in the event's initial outing - at the expense of bloated has-been The Big Show - it seemed like the start of a worthy tradition.

Oh, optimism. Once bitten, twice shy.

Since then, the annual over-the-top-rope multi-man has been relegated to the pre-show, witnessed Big Show's 'redemption' at the expense of Damien Sandow and Hideo Itami's popularity, and had the ignominy of being won by a Baron Corbin greener than a gherkin. Within three short years, fans have been conditioned, quite rightly, to not give the vaguest of sh*ts about the once-promising trophy.

33's edition has done little to change this perception. Booted off the main show and nothing more than a haven for every other performer on the roster with nothing better to do, there's virtually no reason to get excited. Only two candidates have a realistic chance of winning: Sami Zayn and Braun Strowman.

It has to be the latter; not only is Strowman built in the same mould of previous winners Show and Corbin, he's also due some recompense for Roman Reigns effectively quashing his well-earned popularity at Fastlane.

Suggestions The Big Show merits an end to his career with a second victory after getting into shape for the cancelled Shaq match are asinine. The indolent git has got exactly what he deserves for failing to stay in shape for the past ten years of his career.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
