WrestleMania 42 Edging Closing To Las Vegas As Major Barriers Cleared (WWE News)
WWE has "cleared several hurdles" after switching WrestleMania 42 from New Orleans.
The Rock proudly announced that WrestleMania 42 would be taking place in New Orleans on the 21 February edition of SmackDown. To make it official, WWE even had a flashy logo raring to go that was beamed up onto the giant screens around the arena, but plans changed.
Word spread in late-May that company chiefs had elected to keep the annual PLE powerhouse in Las Vegas instead, but nobody knew for sure whether or not Allegiant Stadium would host a second consecutive 'Mania. Now, the Wrestling Observer's Bryan Alvarez is sharing what he knows via Wrestling Observer Live.
According to Alvarez, WWE has "cleared several hurdles" that blocked their path back towards Vegas. Naturally, officials at Allegiant Stadium and at other venues in and around the area don't sit still waiting on TKO/WWE to make their minds up, so they'd already booked concerts and events on the dates WWE plotted for WrestleMania 42.
Those seem to be the "hurdles" Bryan was speaking of. He added: "Vegas is apparently making a lot of concessions to clear the way for WrestleMania. I was told that as of today, it is almost a done deal".
Promoters had booked a concert for either night across the planned April 2026 dates WWE had in mind, and they didn't want to change their own plans. It seems things have been thrashed out now though.
There Were Issues With A Convention Center Too
WrestleMania is bigger than just twin shows at a major stadium. WWE routinely rolls into town and takes over the place for almost an entire week. So, Alvarez said bosses had to stop and think about how they'd run the wildly popular WWE World fan fest in a nearby convention hall if that was booked out too.
The company would be leaving a truck load of cash on the table if they decided to press ahead without what was traditionally known as Axxess. WWE World rakes it in on merchandise and generally builds excitement towards 'Mania itself, so that was another barrier management had to break through.
They're well on the way towards sorting things, Alvarez claims. He believes it's only a matter of time before WWE officially announces that WrestleMania 42 is taking place in Las Vegas as expected.
Stay tuned for further news on 'Mania 42's location when it breaks, but it does look like what happened in Vegas this year will stay in Vegas next year.
