WWE fired Tenille 'Emma' Dashwood in July 2014 when she was arrested on suspicion of sixth-degree larceny - petty theft, in other words - after the suspected sticky-fingered Australian had supposedly made off with merchandise from a Walmart store in Hartford, CT.

When the actual details of the incident emerged, the company did a volte-face, deciding instead to simply discipline their nicked performer.

It turned out Dashwood had left the shop after accidentally mis-scanning a single item through a self-service checkout: an iPad case worth around $15.

Before leaping to lament technology as our nemesis, consider this was really more of a clerk malfunction. Loss-prevention managers admitted that the employee should have simply checked Dashwood's receipt and informed her of the failed purchase. Instead, he called the cops.

Dashwood was ordered to perform a day's community service and an online course for her carelessness. This was a case of identified obliviousness in the bagging area.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
