4. The Four Horsemen (1998)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycgNEC86q0w After Ric Flair missed a taping of WCW Thunder to attend his son's wrestling tournament, a deeply personal legal battle ensued between he and boss Eric Bischoff. Flair was off television for months and the Four Horsemen essentially became nonexistent. When it was announced that Flair would return to WCW on the September 14 episode of Monday Nitro, his former stablemates in the Horsemen, not to mention new recruit Dean Malenko, would greet him inside the squared circle. Flair walked through the curtain and was greeted with a tremendous reaction from the Greenville, South Carolina fans, whom he had spent a large portion of his career competing in front of. Tears filled his eyes immediately but they did not stop him from addressing the fans and Bischoff, who he tore into with great passion. Ultimately, Flair, Malenko, Chris Benoit and Steve McMichael would reunite as the Four Horsemen while longtime Flair friend Arn Anderson served as the manager. The faction would make an impact in the weeks that immediately followed Flair's return but politics would rear their ugly heads. Soon, the group was beaten and driven further into irrelevancy before disappearing completely. While Flair may have won the battle, Bischoff and the creative team won the war. Unfortunately.
