WWE: 10 Best Steve Austin Podcasts To Download Now

5. Shawn Michaels - Episode 2

What a way to kick off one's podcast career, by having one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time call in to your show! Not only is Shawn Michaels a relatively quiet legend - making this a coup for even the likes of Austin - but his career intersected with Austin's at a challenging time in Michaels' life. They have a lot to talk about, and the subject matter could be deemed delicate in places. Therefore, it's no surprise that it takes Shawn awhile to warm up, not because Steve is new to the podcast world, but because Shawn has a history of being careful with his words. For the many years since getting clean and finding God, Michaels has been relatively private about his opinions/memories from the dark days that came before. And I respect him for that, as he owes no one a salacious take on his wilder times, nor an intimate take on his life since. You can tell that Shawn is happy to pitch in on Steve's little project, but he does some dancing around what he wants to say, without saying too much. That reserved demeanour diminishes as they talk more and more about the last phase of Shawn's career. HBK reveals that on his way home from the stadium at WrestleMania 25, he felt that his match with The Undertaker might have been the best possible way to end one's career. As we all know, he wrestled for one more year, but shares why he decided to leave the profession. This is where he starts to relax and speak more naturally, with such simple tenderness in his voice, when it comes to family and being home. This episode shows that the best stories don't always have to be complicated or dramatic in order to have a satisfying conclusion.
