WWE: 10 Big Stars In Worthless WrestleMania Matches
10. The Undertaker vs. The Big Show And A-Train
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yef05fiT8Gk From a realistic standpoint, The Undertaker's streak probably saw its biggest threat at WrestleMania 19. From an entertainment standpoint, boredom also saw it's biggest threat in that event as well. Originally, it was Taker and rookie Nathan Jones who were supposed to be taking on the highly beatable team of The Big Show and A-Train at the show. But before the match, Jones received a backstage beat-down and the "Colossus from Boggo Road" was unable to make the match. This is most likely because he was an awful wrestler, and WWE wanted to limit his involvement as much as possible. Mission accomplished! The year before, Undertaker took on Ric Flair in one of the best Mania matches up to that point. But his WrestleMania 19 battle against two giants just felt beneath him. Keep in mind, this isn't The Big Show of 2014, where he's a solid second-tier star and pushed as an in-ring threat. This was 2003 Show who was just a big midcarder. His partner, A-Train (the future Tensai), had just recently ended his Albert run, and was still most well for his hairy back. And no amount of back hair is going to scare to the Dead Man. Sure, at that stage in his career Taker has been in some pretty mediocre WrestleMania matches (Jimmy Snuka and King Kong Bundy come to mind) but those were early enough in his run where it didn't feel that he was being wasted on the card. Even though The Streak was still in its infancy in terms of WWE acknowledging it at Mania 19, there was no way those two schlubs were going to be the ones to end it. Overall, it was pretty worthless you could say.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
