WWE: 10 Big Stars In Worthless WrestleMania Matches

9. Mick Foley vs. Triple H vs. The Rock vs. The Big Show - WrestleMania 2000

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXDhrT7H8Ww Wait, how can main-eventing WrestleMania be considered a worthless match for Mick Foley? Well, when you damage your credibility to compete in an average match it's certainly not good for your legacy or for your honesty. At the No Way Out pay-per-view in 2000, Foley battled Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match. If Foley won, he'd be the WWF Champion. If he lost, he'd have to retire. It was a fantastic match that would have been a hell of a way to go out for the hardcore legend. But Foley lost, and retire he did...for all of a few weeks. He came back under the managerial efforts of Linda McMahon, who hand-picked him as her wrestler of choice to compete in the Fatal Four Way at WrestleMania 2000. And that was a big part of the problem. WrestleMania 2000 was headlined by Triple H, The Rock, Big Show and Foley. Two of those people did not need to be in there. The best match-up would simply have been Rock vs. Hunter. Besides the needless additions, all four McMahon family member got involved, which was four McMahons too many, and took away attention from the talent. Foley has struggled with deciding if his No Way Out match should have been his last. And of course, it wasn't. It would have been a great time to stop, but then we would have been deprived of his star-making feud with Randy Orton. While he can justify breaking his word to help put over a younger talent, he can't really justify a good explanation for taking place in the Mania match...except for the money. But as the Million Dollar Man often says "every man has his price."

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
