WWE: 10 Biggest Flops In History

1. WCW Invasion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6oLTp3KeNA Probably the biggest flop of them all - and much of the blame must be laid at the feet of Vince McMahon. And yet, it started so promisingly..... When WCW went under in March 2001 Vince bought it with the intention of running it as a separate entity entirely, with its own TV show (the SmackDown slot had been earmarked), talent, announcers, etc. But to start it all off, he had to introduce the WCW wrestlers to his audience. Lance Storm was the first to invade Raw. then we had the likes of Booker T, who debuted by attacking Steve Austin. So far, so good..... Until the now infamous Raw min event of Buff Bagwell and Booker T (complete with the WCW announce team of Scott Hudson and Arn Anderson). It bombed massively. Vince had told his audience for years that WCW sucked, so why would they suddenly want to watch it? The fan in the arena booed the match, making Vince to sharply change tack, turn all WCW heel, combine them with the ECW wrestlers and feud against all of the WWF/E wrestlers. Just like that, 18months of storylines were rushed, leading to the Invasion PPV. The PPV itself drew a phenomenal buy rate (770,000) but that was it for the storyline. By that year's Survivor Series, it was gone. Vince had to prove that his company was best, and that he did - but by flushing a potential of millions of dollars down the drain. It seems that this leopard really can't change its spots.
