3. Beating John Cena Clean
John Cena rarely loses clean, and there's nothing wrong with that, Hogan and Austin were no different when they were at their peaks, but there's a huge benefit to having an invincible superstar, you can make someone a major player by beating them clean. Punk's win at Money in the Bank 2011 was a special moment, but it's still worth noting that Punk won because Cena was distracted by Vince and Big Johnny. Fast-forward to SummerSlam that year and special guest referee Triple H missed the fact that Cena's foot was on the rope when Punk got the pin. CM Punk has never beaten John Cena clean, why not? That was the ultimate way to turn him into a megastar, if he's capable of beating John Cena fair and square then Cena fans will buy into him. I appreciate that Cena carries the company but this could have put Punk right up there with him permanently, they could have been the Austin and Rock of their time, with one guy firmly on top but another not far behind at all. Cena losing cleanly is a rare occurrence that is reserved for superstars who are going places, which Punk clearly was, WWE really should have gone all the way with it.
