WWE: 10 Biggest Royal Rumble Missed Opportunities In History

1. Make It A WWE Title Match Again

Flair Considered the greatest Royal Rumble match of all time, the 1992 contest was notable for having the WWE title on the line. It was won by Ric Flair who entered at number 3 and lasted 59 minutes to become the new champion. Flair ranks it as a career highlight. Twenty-one years have passed and WWE has not taken the opportunity to book this angle again. They have so far missed the chance to repeat the formula of their greatest ever Rumble. It is something they should consider again for the future. Having the title on the line pushes the match even further as an unmissable buy. The element of surprise and ability for any 1 of the 30 men to win the gold is a compelling story. The title doesn't necessarily have to be vacant - the Champion could be forced to defend his belt in the bout with seemingly impossible odds. It could then be a great story of overcoming the odds if the champion retained, or it could be a good way to get the belt off a talent without hurting their stature. It was one of the best Rumble angles ever. The opportunity to revisit a WWE Championship Royal Rumble match will hopefully come around again one day.
