WWE: 10 Bloodiest WrestleMania Matches Ever

9. Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage - WrestleMania VIII

This match was about more than just the WWE Championship, the Macho Man was also fighting for the honour of Miss Elizabeth. Ric Flair had flaunted the fact that he dated Elizabeth in the past and was threatening to show a private image of her following his victory. Savage's anger saw the match break down into a brawl immediately as he repeatedly slammed Flair's head onto the entrance ramp. Blood would soon follow as Flair infamously bladed on camera during a period of the 'No Blood Policy', an act which he received a hefty fine for. The act also added a lot to the story of the match, as Savage's hunt for revenge was shown to its full brutality. A lot of leeway was given to the competitors in the match thanks to the heated nature of the rivalry, which Flair and his executive consultant Mr Perfect took full advantage of. Savage soon changed from the hunter to survival mode, leading to Miss Elizabeth making her way to the ring as she could witness no more. Her presence distracted Flair just long enough for Savage to capture the victory, the championship and defend Elizabeth's honour but the fight was far from over. As Flair stole a kiss Savage saw red and the two needed separating before Flair scuttled to the back. A rare match that saw the WWE Championship defended in the midcard and also didn't settle the feud that would run for the majority of the year.
