WWE: 10 Booking Steps To John Cena Turning Heel On Daniel Bryan
2. The Heel Turn
The tease will be firmly in place and the crowd will be electric throughout the Mania 31 main event match in anticipation for a big angle. The boos for Cena and cheers for Bryan will be the story of the match which is full of exciting near fall spots. Cena time and time again looks like he might give in to temptation, but no heel turn comes, he wrestles a clean match and is shockingly made to tap out after a gruelling effort. As Bryan celebrates his win it looks like the story is over. The camera then goes to Cena who is stood at ringside, staring at Bryan who has his back turned atop the turnbuckle doing the Yes chant. Cena then goes under the ring and pulls something out... his thought to be abandoned money in the bank briefcase. The crowd reacts in gasps. Slipping into the ring, Cena decks Bryan with the case from behind. He then plants a shot to Bryan's head and calls for a referee who obliges to call for the bell and the cash in. Cena then hits the Attitude Adjustment and covers the pin. It's a neat swerve. Fans thought it was all over after the main event, only for Cena to have an unexpected ace up his sleeve. After a year of avoiding turning heel against Wyatt and Bryan, he finally gave in to taking a shortcut to get what he wanted.
