WWE: 10 Booking Steps To John Cena Turning Heel On Daniel Bryan

3. The Buildup To WrestleMania 31

With sole focus now on Cena as the challenger to Bryan, we start to craft a story which builds on their history. We would see how this has been a decade long journey which first started when both men met as rookies on WWE Velocity. There would be a sense of destiny to it all and the crowd reactions in huge favour of Bryan and damning booing of Cena would tell their own story. As the weeks rolled on it would increasingly be asked if Cena can stay true to himself in light of the vicious crowd reactions against him. Something else which would come into play here is a special Jim Ross interview. Just like the fantastic sit down interview with Rock and Austin before Mania 17, have Cena and Bryan in a room together to jointly answer questions. End the go home Raw on this tease of Cena in the interview - "Daniel, in our last two title matches you have beat me. At WrestleMania 31, I don't just want to beat you, I need to beat you. I need to beat you at all costs." The show then closes with a zoom in on Cena's face. That's the sell of Mania 31 right there, everyone is hooked on Cena's need to beat Daniel Bryan and the consequences we might see in Santa Clara. WWE are in a roundabout way communicating that we could see the biggest angle in modern day history play out at Mania - that's a sell people don't want to miss out on.
