5. The Miz
When asked his opinion of the positive traits of Mike "The Miz" Mizanin, super worker Dolph Ziggler replied, "Mike is good at being on MTV 10 years ago". That about sums it up really. The Miz is supposed to be a trash talking baby-face star who has excellent verbal delivery and off the charts charisma, the real star quality X-factor thing that can't be taught. Sadly, in comparison to most of the WWE roster he does come off rather favourably in this regard, but were you to airlift Mr. Mizanin into the WWE of 1999, you would get an altogether different story. If Miz were required to match wits and verbal interplay with The Rock and Chris Jericho, how do you think he would fare? Or if he was required to exude star quality and charisma alongside Steve Austin, Mankind and Triple H, where do you think he would rank? Not that high, right? The simple truth is that The Miz flourishes in an environment where charismatic and funny wrestlers are few and far between, because he can talk and think quickly and is occasionally quite funny. However, put him in a situation like 1999 where you had a large crew of talented talkers and a top line that consisted of some of the most charismatic superstars in wrestling history, and you can see it would be very very unlikely that The Miz would have ever won WWE gold. As far as headlining WrestleMania goes, Steve Austin (who rejected working with Jeff Jarrett for not being enough of a star) would probably have farted all over any suggestion of sharing the biggest stage of all with the pudgy reality TV guy that got famous based on the fact Vince likes people who look natural on TV far more than those that look natural in a wrestling ring. Really? Really.
