WWE: 10 Drug Scandals Wrestling Didn't Want You To Know About

1. A Drugged Up Jeff Hardy Wrestles Sting

Jeff Hardy TNA is a far smaller operation than WWE, and is nowhere near the efficiency of WWE in cleaning up its locker room. In 2011, an out of it Jeff Hardy humiliated himself and the company by showing up in the ring completely out of it for his PPV main event with Sting. Hardy has endured a long history of drug problems. He left WWE in 2003 due to these issues, and turned up in Ring of Honor, were people chanted "go get better" at the lethargic star. Hardy wound back up in the WWE and was looking set to be their biggest act for a while in 2009 - but again, drug issues saw Hardy and the WWE part ways. Hardy jumped to TNA, who seemingly couldn't care less about promoting an act who had little respect for the product. This resulted in the 2011 pay per view event against Sting, in which Hardy stumbled to the ring looking very hazy. When the lights came on you could see in his eyes he was not right. Eric Bischoff came out and said something to Sting and the ref, and then the match started. Hardy wobbled into a lock up, and Sting then pushed him to the mat for the pin. The bout was over in little over a minute, Hardy looked shocked, Sting had pinned him in a shoot hold down to end the embarrassment. As Sting walked up the ramp a fan commented what a joke all this was, "I agree" Sting responded. Amazingly, TNA didn't fire the man who had disrespected management, Sting and the audience. Hardy would go to rehab, but has since faced more drug problems with a ten day stretch in jail later in 2011 for drug trafficking and possession. It is ironic that only one of the ten in this list have died - but if you look at the wider picture, the list of fatalities among many of the 80's and 90's generation reflects the true legacy of the wrestling drug era.
