WWE: 10 Most Excruciatingly Awkward Promos Ever Cut

1. The Genesis Of Michael McGillicutty - NXT Season 2 Finale

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-NpQEiyfY4 Poor Joe Hennig. He had a bonafide "in" with WWE as the son of one of the greatest wrestlers and Intercontinental Champions of all time, but the company pretty much did everything possible to make sure he didn't get over. First he got saddled with an awful WWE ring name, but when he gets the opportunity to make a first impression with the spotlight on him, he fumbles the ball. This promo was all-time awkward. First he leads off (after a very long pause) by saying he doesn't know what to say (always a good start). He then puts down the NXT winner Kaval by saying that his Pay Per View match is going to suck. After a bit more rambling, McGillicutty drops the bomb. "From this moment...from now...from this moment on....this'll be the moment...starting now...of the genesis...of McGillicutty." You can tell that he was struggling to figure out how to end the promo, and the wheels were turning in his head and coming up with nothing. This is the only promo that has its own Sporkle game where you can guess all the words in the promo! At least it took a little while for WWE to come to their senses and gave him a reboot with a new name and a mouthpiece so he wouldn't have to talk. But we'll always have The Genesis.
