WWE: 10 Most Excruciatingly Awkward Promos Ever Cut

8. Vince McMahon Drops An N-Bomb - Survivor Series 2005

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nn-x6tMm-M A lot of brouhaha has been made up about the n-word and its use in popular culture and everyday speech. The NFL is starting to penalize players who say it. Yet some African Americans use the word as a term of endearment to their fellow men. Regardless of the level of acceptability, one rule remains clear: white people probably shouldn't say it. Nobody told that to Vince McMahon though. It's not clear what he was thinking when he decided to drop an N-bomb on Pay Per View. Perhaps he thought the fact that he said it to John Cena, another white man, made it okay? Perhaps he was still grieving over Eddie Guerrero's death and had lots on his damn mind? Either way, the promo ended up being racist by having the punchline be Booker T and Sharmell acting offended by his utterance. What made the comment even more awkward was how out of place it was. This didn't further any storyline. It didn't lead anywhere. Vince dropped an n-bomb because he could and he wanted to. It was never spoken of again. It's never okay for white people to drop n-bombs. It is especially not okay for Vince McMahon, a billionaire owner of a Fortune 500 company, to utter the word on national television (albeit Pay Per View). It is especially especially not okay for him to utter it within earshot of an African American talent. Yes, this is scripted entertainment programming and Vince is playing a character. But the character that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon plays is...WWE Chairman Vince McMahon!
