WWE: 10 Gimmicks That Should Have Failed (But Didn't)

4. Dude Love

So an over weight, 40's something guy wearing god awful throw backs from the 60's and 70's suddenly appears on the titantron and proclaims he's going to be Stone Cold's tag team partner. Oh and did mention he's a laddies man in tie-dye? That's right ladies, tie-dye. This was one gimmick that certainly should have fallen flat on it's face, instead thanks to Mick Foley, somehow it was a hit. Mick was given the chance and the time to flesh out Dude Love, making him a believable character just as he had with Cactus Jack and Mankind. Mick was never really stable to begin with so for him to have multiple personalities, sometimes in the same evening, wasn't that much of a stretch. Even going so far as to appear in the 1998 royal rumble three times under each persona.
