WWE: 10 Glorious Uses Of Celebrities At WrestleMania

2. Donald Trump - WrestleMania 23

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0-ChqIib_w Donald Trump was involved with several WrestleManias if you really want to get technical, but for this list the focus is on his involvement at WrestleMania 23 in the "Battle of the Billionaires" match. The story was that Donald Trump randomly showed up in WWE and gave some money to the fans because he felt that was the right thing to do. That led to Trump picking a wrestler (Bobby Lashley) while McMahon picked a wrestler (Umaga) and that's how the Battle of the Billionaires was set up. What was great about it also was that they brought in Steve Austin as the referee. His inclusion made the match a big deal. The stipulation that the losing billionaire would have his head shaved promised a memorable payoff for the angle too. While I wouldn't say that Trump is a natural on camera performer or a guy with any kind of charisma, his presence definitely helped WrestleMania. To date, WrestleMania 23 is the WrestleMania with the most PPV buys in WWE history. Obviously the way PPVs are bought has changed over the years, but it's hard to deny the numbers or the success of this storyline. Plus, the image of bald Vince McMahon and the facial expressions that followed are legendary in their own right.
