WWE: 10 Greats Who Never Won The Royal Rumble

2. Chris Jericho

chris-jerichoChris Jericho is the best in the world at what he does. Unfortunately what he does is on more of a part time basis now, which for fans of great wrestling matches is a real shame. Jericho has always been a personal favourite of mine. His charisma combined with his technical prowess is fantastic, and I could speak all day about my favourite Jericho moments, both on the microphone and in the ring. His career credentials are excellent, the crowning glory being Vengeance 2001 when he beat both the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin to become the first Undisputed WWF Champion. His career was not all highs though. Jericho for many fans has been the victim of some bad booking, his run as champion in 2002 never made him look like a strong or particularly worthy Champion, and this was his only run with the WWE Championship. He did hold the World Heavyweight Championship when the two belts were run in parallel. Though Jericho has never won the Rumble he has been one of the most consistent performers over the last fifteen years in the match. Cumulatively Jericho has over 3 hours in Royal Rumbles, with 15 eliminations. Perhaps his most impressive performance came recently, in 2013, where after a long absence he returned at the Rumble and went 47 minutes, battling alongside Dolph Ziggler. It was a fantastic return, and one that many fans applauded after the event, especially as his return had been kept reasonably under wraps. Which Royal Rumble could they have won? 2012. I know a lot of people will argue that Jericho should have won this event when he was at his pomp early in his career, but I disagree. Jericho has not become a nostalgia trip, unlike the current run of the New Age Outlaws. When he returns he delivers the goods in the ring. Jericho survived until the very end in 2012, and a win for Jericho would have led to an interesting Daniel Bryan match up at Wrestlemania. Bryan and Jericho could have had a terrific rivalry, one that would have been entirely new to WWE fans.
