WWE: 10 Hot Reasons To Believe In Roman Reigns

8. His Samoan Heritage

umaga We are living in a great era in terms of second- and third-generation wrestlers. Fans of a certain age will fondly remember the stars of the 70's and 80's, whose children have inherited their genetic gifts and passion for the ring. Today we watch those children follow in their father's footsteps €“ Cody Rhodes, Curtis Axel, and Bray Wyatt. Roman Reigns' father (whose family name is Anoa'i) is a WWE Hall of Famer, the Wild Samoan Sika. Other members of the Anoa'I family include Rikishi, Umaga, and The Usos. If you look beyond the Anoa'I family, you see Samoan bloodlines in The Rock, Yokozuna, and Samoa Joe. It's incredible how many legendary wrestlers have come from Samoa, all bringing the credibility of their wrestling history. Samoan traits seem to go one of two ways: high-flying or brute force. Reigns represents more of the latter, however as mentioned with his Spear, he is also very agile. Having that Samoan heritage gives Reigns an added cachet that can't be dreamed up by a Creative team, but could be used by Creative to enhance a story.
