WWE: 10 Most Jaw-Droppingly Stupid Future Endeavours

6. Sylvester Terkay

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W6K5fh8N5I Sylvester Terkay seemed destined for pro wrestling greatness. A former NCAA Division 1Heavyweight star, Terkay lost to Kurt Angle in the finals of the 1992 tournament before winning the championship in 1993. After training at Rick Bassman's UPW school, he signed a developmental deal with WWE. He left for Japan shortly thereafter and alternated between wrestling and mixed martial arts, where he's amassed a 3-1 record. He debuted on the main WWE roster in 2006 on an episode of SmackDown! where his gimmick was to play up his MMA background. He was aligned with Elijah Burke and moved to the newly-revived ECW, where the two took on The F.B.I. at December To Dismember, one of the worst pay-per-views in history. He lasted less than a year with the company, being released In January of 2007. WWE just never seemed to get a handle on the proper way to use Terkay. UFC was exploding in popularity around this time and to have a performer on their roster with legitimate MMA credentials should have been a huge plus. Instead he was left to flounder on ECW with no clear direction.
