WWE: 10 Jobs You Won't Believe That Wrestlers Once Did
2. Wade Barrett Was Going To Be A Marine Biologist
Preston's own Wade Barrett decided he wanted to become a wrestler while at university studying for a degree in marine biology. He told the Lancashire Telegraph (a newspaper from his native county) that he was "working on medical kits to diagnose diabetes and things like that". He later went on to work in recruitment but neither career path would be enough to satisfy his ambition to follow in the footsteps of his childhood hero The British Bulldog and certainly couldn't do that while wearing a white lab coat. I still think it could have made a pretty cool gimmick though. Despite this mild-mannered past, he also has a much rougher one. While in his early twenties, he became a successful bare knuckle boxer, after he got into the underworld fighting scene in Liverpool but went on to compete throughout Europe. This is the past occupation that you do hear about from Michael Cole and JBL. It's the more intelligent, science-loving side of Stu Bennett that is mentioned less, though Cole has brought it up once or twice.
