WWE: 10 Jobs You Won't Believe That Wrestlers Once Did

8. Paul Bearer Was A Mortician

During his early days in the business, the iconic Paul Bearer actually obtained his degree in mortuary science, and was also certified as an embalmer and mortician. This real life experience was used by WWE to adapt his on-screen character. William Moody (who had previously been working as Percy Pringle) became Paul Bearer, and it's clear his real-life experiences helped inform his character. As this incarnation, he managed guys like Mankind, Kane and most famously The Undertaker, and was involved in some of the most memorable feuds and matches of the Attitude Era. After his untimely passing this year, his presence was still felt as an integral part of the storyline between CM Punk and Taker. He was given a warm tribute on Monday Night Raw and remains fresh in the memory of all true wrestling fans. Even before his time in the morgue, he enlisted with the United States Air Force and was on duty for four years, and during this time he actually used to wrestle for independent promotions on the Indian Coast. The man had a truly fascinating life: it's just crazy to think that he lived that character in real life. It's little wonder he owned the performance.
