2. Andre The Giant Turns Heel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7zjQnOSugs When Andre the Giant returned from filming the Princess Bride in 1986, he got stuck with a weird gimmick in a tag team called the Machines. Wrestling under masks, the WWE pretended this was a new team from Japan whose identities were a secret, despite one of them obviously being Andre. It was similar to what Hogan would do years later as Mr. America, the story being that everyone knew Andre was under the mask but could never prove it, being that you couldn't exactly hide Andre's physique. Eventually the story fizzled out, the Giant Machine disappeared and Andre was reinstated soon after. When news of his reinstatement broke, Bobby Heenan expressed approval despite having been an enemy of Andre all along which confused many fans. Over the course of a few episodes of Piper's Pit in January 1987, it all became clear why. First, Hogan was invited onto the Pit to receive a special trophy honoring his three-year reign as WWF Champion. The next week, Andre the Giant was invited onto the show to receive a similar honor of his own. He was presented with a trophy for being the only undefeated wrestler in WWF history, having never lost by pin fall or submission in his time with the company. His trophy however was noticeably smaller than the one Hogan had received the week before. Andre's friend and sometimes tag partner, Hulk Hogan came out to congratulate the Giant but ended up taking all the attention off of Andre. A frustrated Andre walked out on the interview, resulting in both being invited back onto the Pit in February to sort out their problems. Hogan was first in the Pit and he and everyone watching were shocked to see Andre led to the ring by long time enemy Bobby Heenan. Hogan immediately wanted answers, explaining that Andre was the reason he became a wrestler and teaming with Heenan was a bad move. Heenan spoke for Andre now, telling Hogan that Andre was sick and tired of what Hogan stood for, bringing up his stealing of the spotlight when Andre got his trophy. He continued, accusing Hogan of only teaming up with Andre so that he never had to defend the title against him. A distraught Hogan pleaded with Andre to listen to reason, but instead was met with a challenge for his WWF Title at the upcoming WrestleMania 3. As a parting shot, Heenan told Hogan "If you cant believe it, maybe you'll believe this." Andre then ripped Hogans shirt from his body and stormed off set as Hogan collapsed in disbelief that his shirt was ripped by someone other than himself. As everyone probably knows, Hulk Hogan won at WrestleMania by slamming the 500 pound giant and hasn't shut up about it since. On the same event, Piper defeated Adrian Adonis in a Hair vs Hair match before taking some time off.
