WWE: 10 Most Silver Tongued On-Mic Performers in Wrestling History

3. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper

roddy piper "Hotrod" Roddy Piper. There are a good few words beginning with the letter "R" related to the former WWE Intercontinental Champion, one you can add if you haven't already is "riot." In the 1970's and lesser in the 1980's, Roddy Piper's promos were the catalyst to outrage. He was the ultimate bad guy and wound up influencing other names on this list such as CM Punk, Chris Jericho and Stone Cold Steve Austin's mentality that when you're supposed to be bad, you be bad at any cost. Before he battled the forces of Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart, Piper was a regular on the Californian independent scene and was the biggest heel to hit the West coast since "Classy" Freddie Blassie. Eventually Piper found his way to Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation and was immediately made the promotions top bad guy, notable for smashing a coconut over Jimmy Snuka's head and his rivalry with Mr. T. Piper's tone and convincingly aggressive mannerisms were the main factors in creating what was an excellent bad guy on the microphone. He annoyed people and people hated him.

In a rather stereotypical fashion I list drinking as one of my hobbies, others include socializing, wrestling, sports such as football and rugby, and of course watching films and television. Follow me on Twitter @JasonPatrickWE and talk to me about whatever, not literally whatever of course as that'd be a pretty boring topic of conversation.
