1. Bret Hart vs Steve Austin - Wrestlemania 13
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZkK55HFUDU This classic encounter from Wrestlemania 13 is widely considered one of the best matches of all time. Bret Hart went into the match as a fan favourite, however he would leave the ring to a chorus of boos. Austin entered as a bad guy, but after refusing to submit to Hart's finishing move the Sharpshooter he would pass out in a pool of his own blood earning the respect and admiration of WWE fans. That image would become an iconic part of wrestling history as the Texas Rattlesnake stamped his name on the sport. This match was a revolution in terms of art in wrestling. It signalled a change in wrestling which moved from a cartoon superhero to a more realistic, gritty and complex characters, allowing for the later move toward the Attitude era. Wrestling evolved into a more complex form. Traditionally fans would boo Austin, but now Austin had become an anti hero while Bret Hart, a man of moral integrity was booed in the USA but was beloved elsewhere. It is in these complex shades of grey where we find wrestling at its very best, and we can view it as an art form.
