WWE: 10 Perfect Matches You Could Describe As 'Art'

8. TLC II €“ Wrestlemania X7

Wrestling can you make you hurt. When watching it you can feel every bump, bruise and fall each wrestler takes, and no more so is this prevalent than in the TLC II match between Edge and Christian, The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz. Three of the WWF's most iconic tag teams in the early 2000's collided as all three tried to repeat the success €“ and up the ante of their first TLC €“ Tables, Ladders and Chairs match (named after each team's favourite weapons). This match is not majestic or beautiful, its action is chaotic and frenetic. Not all art is beautiful. So many iconic moments happen during the match, but it is built up so well where each of the stakes is being raised higher each time. During this event you feel awe for each participant then pain when they drop to the canvas from a ladder or plummet through a table. The combination of excitement, adrenaline and empathy for performers who are going through tremendous pain is rarely at the forefront in the world of entertainment. Edge, Christian, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Bubba Ray Dudley and Devon re-popularised tag team wrestling when it had fallen by the wayside. Re-invention is crucial in any art, and the TLC matches and triple threat feud between the three teams re-invented tag team wrestling for the 21st century creating a scene that was intense, anarchic and passionate.
