10. Does Vince McMahon Defy The fans?

From @Comelo1972 on Twitter Why does Vince McMahon seem to defy the fans wishes when certain stars are set to break out?
I don't know that he does it on purpose, but it's a case of having a storyline planned out and going in the direction that he wants to go in. If you know where you want to go in a storyline that ends in three months, he's going to want to stick to the plan rather than deviate it. Should they listen to the fans more? Absolutely. The fans want Daniel Bryan as the top guy. Listen to how they hijacked the segment with Randy Orton and John Cena before TLC where they were trying to hype up the "biggest match ever." The crowd wanted Bryan, not either of those guys. What hurts a guy like Bryan is that when he was main eventing pay-per-views in the fall months, they didn't do that well in terms of buys and television ratings did not increase. Compare that to this past Monday when Batista came back, they got their highest ratings for Raw in 10 months. Now, it's not just because Batista is back. However, that was obviously a big part of it because he has been off TV for nearly four years. Vince McMahon is smarter than anybody in the history of wrestling. He has the money that proves that. He made that money. He created a lifestyle for himself, his family and his employees. Along the way, he stuck to his guns on some decisions and in other cases he listened to the fans as they cheered for a guy like Steve Austin, who was probably not pegged to be the top guy. Hopefully Vince listens to the fans about Daniel Bryan, but if you look at the numbers it's hard to understand why he goes in another direction too.
