WWE: 10 Questions You Most Want Answered (May 24)

7. Owen Hart's Place In WWE

From @JBHuskers: In 2014, where would Owen Hart fit into the WWE?
He was 34 years old when he died 15 years ago, so it's very unlikely that he would be wrestling. From all the reading I've done about him and interviews I've watched, it seemed like he was only going to wrestle for a couple more years. He planned on retiring within two, then stay in Calgary full time as a firefighter and be at home for his wife, son and daughter. It would have been very interesting to see how he would have been in WWE during years like 2000 and 2001 where the in-ring quality was significantly better than it was in 1999 when he died. We could have seen him wrestle guys like Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam and so many others that started to appear in WWE in those years. It's unlikely that Owen would have ever been a World Champion, but he always had a role as a tag team wrestler or somebody could challenge for the midcard titles. He was better in the heel role, so ideally that's what he would have been doing. When WWE was struggling during that period from 1993 to 1996, Owen was probably the third best performer in the company after Shawn Michaels and his brother Bret Hart. Undertaker was there, but he was in a lot of bad feuds in those years and he was still developing as an in-ring performer. Owen was a terrific all around talent who was one of the best performers that never became WWE World Champion. Owen Hart should absolutely be in the WWE Hall of Fame. Whether his widow Martha Hart allows it is another question. It would be a great tribute to his legacy, but it's understandable why she is so against it too.
