7. The Promos
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfaocLFMBbY Its often been said that John Cena is simply the modern iteration of Hogan and if they tag-team at WrestleMania 30, that torch-pass will be complete. When Cena delivers one of his intense, loud promos, its hard not to hear Hogans voice echoing it. Hogan knew how to deliver an exciting promo and also knew how to press the buttons of both the crowd and his opponent. As a face, he would be emotive and passionate. His eyes would widen, his voice would get more gravelly, his fists would clench, his muscles would tense and he just pulls us along for the ride. You look at Cena and you can tell he was a Hogan fan when hes on the mic. Whats great though is that his NWO work was equally as good. He was patronising, he was confident and, for perhaps the only time in his career, he was cool too. The Cena heel turn talk has been overdone now in 2014 but if it does ever happen, you only need look at how it reinvigorated Hogans mic work to know that we could be listening to something special. Again, he knew how to ride the audience live or take them along for the ride in backstage filmed segments. Hogan didnt invent the promo, but he sure as hell took it a made it better - What you gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?.
