4. The Matches
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHoIm72F9Nc Its already been said but it widely recognised now that Hogan was never going to be the best in-ring competitor in the history of wrestling but he usually made it work. This was because of elements already mentioned but also because the guy could tell a good story in the ring. In an age when Cena gets hammered for never having good matches, and then has year after year of top bouts, Hogan is the same. Technically, hes not the best worker but put him in there with the right person, or the right story, and the crowd will go wild. The obvious match is the aforementioned Rock bout at WrestleMania but look at some of the others. The match with Mr T against Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff. Andre versus Hogan at WrestleMania III and the slam felt around the world. The match against The Ultimate Warrior. Various controversial NWO bouts and the television match against Goldberg. His return match against The Undertaker and the Shawn Michaels storyline (even if that did end with an ultimately forgettable main event at SummerSlam in a clash of Legend versus Icon). Either way, a man whose finishing move is a leg drop has still managed to create memorable match after memorable match in his 37 years.
