Smackdown can become a vital part of WWE's story-line advancement if Smackdown was positioned the night after Raw. Raw could potentially end on a cliffhanger that could then be addressed on the next night. Cliffhangers are a great way to generate interest in shows. Its a great tool in manipulating the audience into tuning into the next episode to see what will happen. It happens in other television shows all the time. Sometimes viewers just need a little extra incentive to tune in, cliffhangers can offer that. Imagine Raw ending with the above video in today's social media landscape. Long time enemies such as Triple H and Stone Cold aligning would probably destroy Twitter. If Smackdown were to air the following day after Raw everyone would be glued to their TV to see what would happen next. Airing later in the week only offers diminishing returns with each day that passes.
