WWE: 10 Reasons Money In The Bank Match Should Return At Wrestlemania 30
2. It Makes Genuine Stars At WM
Yes, winning the match itself should create stars in June but it's happening less and less. Last year, Orton won in the ex-champ match whilst Damien Sandow was buried under the weight of the briefcase. Holding the title actually seems to destroy superstars more than make them these days (refer back to Dolph Ziggler too). When the match was at WrestleMania though, it genuinely put the winner into the main event scene. Yes, they would wait for their title chance but interest in the superstar suddenly exploded. Look at Edge. Would he have had such a great career without the ladder win? Maybe, but holding the briefcase certainly helped. CM Punk holding the contract aloft two years in a row certainly put him on the road to stardom and a great rivalry with Jeff Hardy. Yes, there's also been Mr Kennedy (who thankfully lost the briefcase to Edge when they realised he was just awful) and Jack Swagger but, certainly with the latter, it put him on the map and his championship celebration on Smackdown after taking the title from Jericho was one of the most booed segments ever on the blue brand. It's the chance to make a star at the biggest event of the year that counts though. Alongside the returning legends and current roster leaders, it means a great mid-carder gets a genuine WM moment too, and that can't be bought.
