WWE WrestleMania 30: 10 Reasons The Undertaker Losing The Streak Was A Waste Of 22 Years
4. The Third Act Of A 22-Year Story Ends With A Whimper
The WWE have spent over two decades telling a story, in this case of the unbreakable deadman who rises to the occasion on the biggest of stages to defeat every obstacle. He had looked into the eyes of another man who meant him harm 21 different times and each time he rose from the grave to have his hand raised once more. It's a fairly standard story and that's why it's worked so well for so long. To truly reach a satisfying conclusion to such a lengthy story arc, the hero eventually should fall to either his greatest nemesis or the youngster looking to usurp him from his position of dominance. In this instance we got neither. He fell to a foe in the midst of a forced, flimsy conflict and the climax felt...empty. Longtime fans have invested significant portions of their lives witnessing the building of the mythology of Undertaker at WrestleMania. Instead of a poetic ending that concluded the tale in dramatic fashion, it felt like we were force-fed something for the sake of shock value alone.
