WWE: 10 Reasons To Hate Raw and Smackdown

4. In Show Advertising

Once again I€™m fully aware as to why WWE occasionally has product placement segments such as Subway Sandwiches or Domino's Pizza etc, its all for that extra buck. But the majority of the time these segments come across as totally out of place. It takes a character and places them in a €œcommercial€ for a product and never adds anything to them or their current programme. If these segments were written into a certain storyline in such a way it highlights a current story then they would have some value. The WWE audience isn€™t stupid enough not to know exactly what€™s going on meaning that the majority of the audience will simply switch off mentally when they see the €œSubway Guy€ or similar. There€™s enough advert time in WWE programming as it is which gets me down enough. Luckily I record each late night show and simply skip the advert breaks. This highlights just how much time you get watching live entertainment. A 3 hour RAW takes just under 2 hours to watch taking out breaks but then throw in the recaps I mentioned previously that I skip it takes it to about 1 hour 45 minutes of Live TV. Like I said, I get that its an easy money roller but it grinds me so much when this time could be invested in the future. They could instead put in a well-written promo or segment that proves vital to a viewer ordering the next PPV or tuning in next week.
