3. PG Finishing Moves?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iVvi-sgfRI PG WWE gets a lot of people down. There is no blood, no weapons, no divas with boobs hanging out, ya know, all the good stuff. I for one dont think that WWE programming has been affected that much from moving to a more family orientated programming. In fact I think its really added to the match quality and, when creative get it right, the storylines get more depth. What I dont like about it is the downright hypocrisy of finishing moves nowadays. I ask you this, whats more dangerous to glamorise? A Stone Cold Stunner or a PUNCH TO THE HEAD? Well not lie to ourselves and say we have never tried to pull off our favourite wrestlers signature moves. Hell thats how I got into being a wrestler myself and not once have I seen a friend or fellow wrestler injured from attempting a Stunner, Rock Bottom or a Chokeslam. But if I had tried to pull off the WMD or Brogue kick as a child, I would most likely kick / punch my mate right in the chops! It's also crazy that the talent isnt allowed to punch their opponents anymore but they can kick the sh*t out of them. Hell, Zack Ryder, one of the most over characters with Kids uses a running boot right to the face as his opponents are groggy and sat in the corner. It's madness! Im not a fan of wrestlers using strikes as finishers at the best of times even though I was taught when choosing a finisher, the easy option are strikes, submissions and aerial moves as they can be performed on anyone and from anywhere with easy counters. I am not a fan due to the fact they are not wrestling moves and tend to look garbage. Fans mark out for sudden impacts and clean, charismatic moves. Granted, strikes can come out of nowhere but often don't connect properly or have absolutely no setup. It also seems strikes have become over saturated with Kofi Kingston, Wade Barrett, Big Show, Sheamus, Cody Rhodes and Antonio Cesaro all using strikes as finishers. Even CM Punks GTS uses a knee lift. This is not UFC and will not bring MMA fans over Vince!
