WWE: 10 Reasons Why Michael Cole Needs To Be Removed As The 'Voice'

5. He Takes The Spotlight Away From More Deserving "Wrestling" Talent

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Mz_KW_SACY Zack Ryder. Whether you like him or not there is no argument to what he achieved by himself in regards to his career. He made his own push, he made his own fanbase and he made his own fame by completely disregarding the WWE management synopsis that he is a jobber. And in late 2010 it seemed that the WWE had finally realized to potential of this great worker by not only awarding him the United States championship but taking his online initiatives and implementing them to great success. It seemed that the Ryder revolution had come full circle. But at the start of 2011, he lost his championship & was relocated back to the minor card for seemingly no apparent reason other than being Zack Ryder. And at Wrestlemania 27 later that year, we had Michael Cole vs Jerry "the King" Lawler. Now that is not only downright disgraceful, not only is that downright insulting, but as it seemingly goes against everything that is good for business it re-enforces my belief that Michael Cole only has his job because he has something on Vince. That brief summary of what happened is the epitome of Michael Cole's place as a "wrestler" taking away the spotlight away from more deserving talent. Zack Ryder is not the only one, not by a long shot, but he best represents the point I am trying to make so I will focus on him. Before Zack Ryder, the WWE's online presence was sketchy at best. The online Universe was barely even its own planet and several online initiatives went completely south (did you know the WWE Universe was actually started as a facebook style social outlet, hell I became a member, ha). As I previously pointed out, at this time Michael Cole was still referring to people online as "nerds". But after the success of "Z's, True Long Island Story," the WWE redefined its position on the web and is now one of the leaders in social broadcasting. And how did they repay the man that got them there, they put him back in the low cards and gave the position he should have had at Wrestlemania 27 to Michael Cole. They really dropped the ball with Ryder, he could've easily have become the next John Cena after the whole Eve angle. He had the look, he had the charisma, he had the fan base, he had the skill, he had the kids and he had the merchandise. What more do you need to make a main eventer? Hell, he even had his own title, the "Internet Championship", which to me screams a hell of a lot more relevance than the "United States" title. Which is kind of irrelevant to begin with considering they have an "Intercontinental" title which represents both North & South America. But I digress. Let's add to that to incredible and amazingly talented Jack Swagger being relocated to Cole's trainer and even taken off the final card by having him dis-align himself with Cole on the previous RAW and that there my friends is pro wrestling booking at its very worst. Why not Swagger vs Lawler with Cole in his corner? Why not an Internet/United States championship unification match between Ryder & Swagger? It's not rocket science, although creative at WWE would like you to think so. Michael Cole has no place in the ring as a competitor, period.

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
