WWE: 10 Reasons Why Michael Cole Needs To Be Removed As The 'Voice'

6. His Banter Is Ridiculous & Completely Irrelevant

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XOB9qhcxB0 Okay, I get it. You are a middle aged man and you like to point out from time to time that you are slowly but surely becoming irrelevant in society by making references to days gone by or pointing out cultural differences between your current age group and the youth of today. But I have to say, if you are planning to reference things from the 80's and 90's (the era I grew up in), then how about referencing something that was actually relevant back in those days as well as to the situation in the ring at that moment. It's like his idea of what was actually popular to the mainstream masses back in the day is from some weird alternate bizarro world. Even when it comes to the modern era he can't seem to grasp this concept either. Up until 2010-11, he still referenced internet users as "nerds" and "fat guys stuck in the basement with no girlfriends." That alone shows how out of touch he actually is. And the funny thing is, I can think of whatever scenario is currently happening right now on tv and actually compare it to something that had cultural significance. For example, Daniel Bryan is like "Rocky" the ultimate underdog. Now that wasn't hard, that was just off the top of my head as I type this. But he can't seemingly even do that properly. He references include old shows, movies & tv characters that most people that were not born in that era or who weren't television junkies back in the day have absolutely no clue even existed, not to mention the actual stuff I have heard him reference (Matlock) that wasn't even culturally relevant when it was in its heyday. To put it in perspective (I do that a lot to explain my argument), you could say it's the equivalent of saying "Where's the Beef" that no one born past 1988 actually understands instead of using say, "Have a Nice Day" which EVERYONE knows, understands, is culturally relevant and actually has a history in the WWE itself with Mankind/Mick Foley. And when he is not doing this, his banter consists of terribly unfunny and juvenile comments that just come off as the definition of douchebaggery. The stuff that he spews forth is the type of dribble I expect 12 year olds to say, and it's not an attempt to target that specific demographic either. It's generally how he seemingly wants to come across to the audience (or is just how he is in real life, which speaks volumes). It's truly an embarrassment to watch and an embarrassment to the WWE.

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
