WWE: 10 Returns & Surprises We Want To See For The Network Launch
2. CM Punk Returns
Unlikely? Yes, of course. WWE hasn't even mentioned Punk's name since he walked out on the company. To that end, he isn't on the storyline radar. Also, it looks likely that Daniel Bryan has taken his spot for the WrestleMania match against HHH so it leaves him in the wilderness. A return wouldn't feel like a big 'storyline' deal simply because the writers haven't broached it on television. Would it be a big moment for the crowd though? Yes, of course. Along with the Daniel Bryan 'de-push', Punk's walkout has given WWE even more negative worldwide publicity. Vince has been trying to contact and negotiate with Punk though as he likes him. Could this pay off with a Raw return? Very slightly maybe potentially hopefully. If you've seen Punk's excellent DVD, you'll know he is a man that doesn't like to back down on a decision and walking back through the doors of WWE might be more than he can stomach as it would be an admittance of a mistake. Do the fans want him back though? Yes, without a doubt. A return at the end of the episode and putting HHH in the GTS would be a picture to add another 100,000 Network buys as people pay to see the first episode of the Raw fallout. Punk might not need Raw, but Raw certainly needs him.
