WWE: 10 Rivalries That Were Too Personal To Be Fake

6. Goldberg And Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho And Goldberg When Chris Jericho was in WCW, he was known for being a heel with a big mouth. For the most part, he was wrestling in the cruiserweight division against men of his size or smaller than him. At the time of Goldberg's rise in 1998, Jericho also decided to take some shots at him. He even referred to him as "Greenberg" and challenged him to a match at one point. Goldberg didn't respond. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C8a4_4ZDMM The backstage story was that Goldberg didn't think Jericho was on his level and flat out refused to work with him. In 2003, Goldberg made the move to WWE on a one year contract. Jericho isn't the type of guy to get in fights with other wrestlers, but he felt disrespected when Goldberg refused to work with him in WCW. That came as a result of Goldberg not really growing up in the wrestling business. He was a guy that appeared in WCW and within a year was already a main eventer, so he had a big ego that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Jericho has talked about a story that took place back in 2003 when Goldberg got in Jericho's face. Jericho explained what happened in his second book and also on countless radio shows: "I took him to the ground and put him in a front face lock. He never got up, so I just kept squeezing on him." He mentioned taking him down again before others pulled them apart. They had a feud that culminated in a match at Bad Blood 2003 that Goldberg won. Apparently everything was settled with their backstage fight although you probably won't hear Goldberg talk about. The loser of the fight rarely speaks about things like that.
