WWE: 10 Rivalries That Were Too Personal To Be Fake

7. CM Punk And Jeff Hardy

"You, my friend, are way too cocky outside and inside the ring. I just have one message for CM Punk...f**k you. I made you the Straight Edge Superstar that you are." That's from a video that Jeff Hardy shot (with a cameo from brother Matt) back in 2010. It was when Hardy was out of WWE after leaving the company in 2009. This wasn't a video that was done to promote a match or anything like that. This was done because Hardy doesn't like Punk. His brother Matt didn't like Punk either because as you can see at the end of the video, Matt mentioned Amy Dumas (Lita), who Punk was dating at the time. Both Jeff and Matt looked like they were on some kind of drugs (or perhaps just drunk) in the video. Do they regret making the video? Probably. It made its way onto the internet and it definitely got people talking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6GcrIBhBWA While it's one of those feuds where it's hard to tell what is legit heat and what is a storyline, the two did work together a lot in 2009. It was a main event level feud that produced some quality matches on the Smackdown brand. Punk even dressed up as Hardy at one point and did a promo about needing a fix, which was an obvious drug reference. Punk has always been a guy that was proud of the fact that he didn't drink or do drugs while Hardy was a known drug user. He was suspended by WWE multiple teams. Part of the reason he left was the WWE lifestyle wasn't good for him. It's crazy that a top guy like Hardy would just leave, but going to TNA and working that lighter schedule might have saved his life. For his part, Punk has never publicly ripped Hardy and the two men had no problem doing business together. However, any time somebody says what Hardy did about Punk you there had to be some issues somewhere. Perhaps it's another case of time healing all wounds. We'll never really know unless they are working for the same company again one day.
