WWE: 10 Satisfying Moments When Heels Were Taken Down

2. Hulk Hogan vs. Sgt. Slaughter - WrestleMania 7

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCBXaP14qlo This was a very memorable feud in 1991 that was based around the Gulf War that saw Sgt Slaughter go from American hero to turncoat by becoming an Iraqi sympathizer. It was WWE's way of using a real life situation to their benefit. In the build up to the match, Slaughter did everything to piss off the fans. He threw a fireball at Hogan. He burned flags. Anything they could do to get cheap heat, that's what they did. The match was far from a classic, but anybody that saw it will always remember it because it was the end of a storyline that dominated WWE in early 1991. There was a very memorable finish as Slaughter tried to put the Iraqi flag on Hogan when he went for the cover. It was good for a two count as Hulk powered out of it and then he ripped up the Iraqi flag. Hogan was bleeding while he did it. The fans loved it because Hulk was the guy that represented America in this battle and it was another victory for the country where most of WWE's fans were. It wasn't just another WWE Title win for Hulk Hogan. It was a win for America too. That's why the fans loved it so much. It was a special moment in WWE history.
