3. The Rock vs. Triple H - Backlash 2000
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYF6r22UjKU "Stone Cold! Stone Cold is here! The Rattlesnake is back!" - Jim Ross. This is a match that I wrote about recently due to one of the biggest crowd reactions ever. Simply put, the fans were very into everything that The Rock and Triple H did at Backlash 2000. Hunter was the heel champion that had Vince, Shane & Stephanie McMahon in his back pocket. That gave him a lot of power. They helped him keep the WWE Title at WrestleMania 16 too. The only McMahon that was against Triple H at that point was Linda McMahon, who factored into this match when she put Steve Austin in The Rock's corner for the match. Austin was out for several months in 2000 after neck surgery, so it was a big return for him. Problem is, Austin didn't show up until the very end of the night. With everything looking like it was going to be a bad night for The Rock and Triple H ready to hit another Pedigree, the glass broke. Steve Austin entered the arena with a steel chair in hand. He destroyed Vince, Shane, Triple H, Patterson and Brisco. Linda brought out Earl Hebner to fill in as ref, Rock hit the People's Elbow and he won the WWE Championship once again in a great match. This may seem like a Rock/Triple H moment, but in a lot of ways it was part of that memorable Austin/McMahon story and it involved others as well. A huge match that gave Rock retribution from his WrestleMania loss and made the fans happy because it kept the heels from dominating at least for one night.
